Pocket knives
Pocket knives are very useful and versatile instruments because it’s possible to safely transport them anywhere. By utilizing a mechanism called slipjoint, the blades do not lock once opened, but a spring mechanism holds them in place until a fair amount of pressure is applied to the blade–returning it to it’s concealed position. Although this is the most common type of pocket blade, some DO lock once opened.
Many pocket knives can conceal different blades or tools, including:
• Serrated/straight blades
• Saws
• Corkscrews/bottle openers
• Scissors
• Tweezers/toothpicks
Pocket knives have become increasingly popular for outdoor adventure-seekers and campers. Because of they’re size, there incredibly easy to pack and their versatility lets them accomplish many tasks–from splintering firewood to food preparation.
